After finding and purchasing the ideal property to host makers, my attention turned towards renovations! Number one on the list is mold removal in the attic. Then new carpet for the second story. Next up is turning the dining room on the first floor into a fourth bedroom. Last, but not least is the biggest project – converting the attached 2-car garage into the crafting space.

I’m so grateful for my family who have helped in many ways including:

  • My husband, Jan, who jumped right in and started working in the garage – tearing down a wall that we didn’t need and installing insulation and drywall.  He also made countless trips to Home Depot, Lowe’s, and Menards for supplies.
  • My son-in-law, Bill, who helped with drywall, wiring, installing doors, and trim.
  • My son-in-law, Mike, who has taken on the role of groundskeeper and keeps the grass cut.
  • My grandsons- Kyle, Sean, and Jared – who helped with the heavy lifting when we needed it.
  • My sister Cathy and daughter Cait, who helped me paint.
  • The following pros have been involved in the renovations and I highly recommend them:
  • The crew from Kozma Electric (Craig Kozma at 330-714-5419) is handling all the wiring in the craft space including new outlets and lighting.  They are also updating lighting fixtures in the house.
  • The crew at Green Home Solutions (Rick Sanders at  216-212-0776) got rid of the mold in the attic.
  • Sharp Construction (Andy Sharp at  330-410-3036) installed a ridge vent on the garage and tuned up the roof on the house.
  • A-1 Concrete Leveling (RC at 440-327-0101) stabilized the garage floor and lifted/straightened some concrete in the barn.
  • Calvetta Brothers (Ari Schabo 440-226-8226) replaced the carpeting in the house and will install new flooring in the crafting space.
  • The HVAC pros at Climate-Tech, who added heating and cooling to the crafting space and zoning to the house.

With the help of family and professionals, the renovations are moving along. It takes a ton of effort and a great team to make a dream come true! We’ve been busy working to turn this dream into a reality!
